You may have noticed a little extra fiesta around the city this week. Chicago’s Mexican community is commemorating the start of the Mexican War of Independence against Spain 200 years ago. So today, as Mexico celebrates its bicentennial, we talk with Xochitl Bada, Assistant Professor of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and she offers her insight on Chicago’s growing community of Mexican immigrants.
