Alderman Ed Bus Faces Something New: An Opponent

We now return to the power broker of the 53rd ward. Alderman Ed Bus is the alter ego of Chicago Public Radio's Justin Kaufmann, who created the character for his comedy sketch group, Schadenfreude.

For years, Bus has run unopposed. But in this episode, Bus finds out that he has an opponent - and the election is only a week away.

A week later, the election results in a runoff. But Alderman Ed Bus manages to keep his seat in true Chicago fashion. He offers his opponent his Buick LeSabre to bow out.

Alderman Ed Bus is the creation of Chicago Public Radio's Justin Kaufmann, who performs with the sketch comedy group, Schadenfreude.

Originally aired Feb. 21, 2007
