Since 1994, corporal punishment against students has been illegal in Illinois. But allegations of abuse within the Chicago Public School system remain widespread. According to an investigation at CBS Channel 2, teachers, security guards, coaches and principals used paddles, belts, even sticks embedded with nails to punish students.

School investigators confirmed the abuse in an overwhelming majority of the more than 800 cases they investigated. CBS2 reporter Dave Savini has led the investigation and he explains more.
