Technology is constantly evolving, and that creates a daily demand to stay on the cutting edge. But what if we shunned most modern advances—would we still survive, let alone prosper? A new article in the latest issue of Chicago magazine takes a closer look at an Amish community in central Illinois that has managed to do that. But as writer Brendan Pelsue found out, today's recession is a formidable foe for any community.
