Today is the last day that area codes 773 and 312 will designate people who live in the city. Starting tomorrow, new Chicago phone customers could receive the 872 area code. And Chicagoans will have to dial 11 digits, no matter what area code they’re calling. Ever since the inception of 773, Chicagoans have identified with certain digits, so we spoke with people at the Thompson Center in downtown Chicago about what stereotypes existed among local area codes.
