For more than 25 years now, Chicago native Aidan Quinn has been a special kind of Hollywood actor – he's both ubiquitous and obscure at the same time. Quinn's breakout roles came in the mid-'80s – in the films Reckless
and Desperately Seeking Susan
. And although he's never achieved star status, he certainly didn't sink into character-actor purgatory. Instead he's plugged away – making about a film a year since his start. And lately he's been popping up more and more on TV. Quinn recently stopped by to talk about his career and his new film, A Shine of Rainbows
. In it he plays a bit of a grump – a brooding Irish man named Alec. When asked what drew him to this character and this production, Quinn says the choice was pretty simple. A Shine of Rainbows
opens in theaters throughout Chicago tomorrow.
