When your dad is a musical legend, do you steer clear of his legacy to carve out your own path, or embrace the familial influence on your art? This is a question Adam Cohen — son of Leonard Cohen — struggled with throughout his career.

Until 2007, Adam Cohen had never played any of his father’s songs in public. Now, he’s out with a new album that embraces his father’s influence:

Like A Man is steeped in my recognizing that I am in the family business. Despite my efforts to carve out a different identity, really I belong to a long line of people who have embraced their father’s business.”
