The city of Chicago and Cook County government, specifically, has a reputation for corruption. And, whether or not it’s a top-down problem that reputation has proven rich ground for political campaigns—especially for Board President. But as easy as it may be to campaign on cleaning it up board president-elect Toni Preckwinkle has a challenge ahead of her. The Better Government Association teamed up with The University of Illinois at Chicago’s Political Science Department to release a new report detailing a century and a half of corruption convictions in county government. Better Government Association’s executive director Andy Shaw explains the report.
