To close a budget gap of over $350 million, the district plans to make more teacher layoffs, reduce educational programs and cut back some consulting contracts. But CPS will also balance the budget by tapping its reserve fund. Education Reporter and deputy editor of the education magazine Catalyst Chicago, Sarah Karp has been following the story and she has analysis.
