The colorful world of Chicago politics has lost one of its most talented and colorful reporters. Our dear friend and former WBEZ colleague Carlos Hernandez Gomez lost his battle with cancer yesterday. He was 36 years old. Carlos’s voice and insights will be familiar to many of you who listen regularly to the station – and to this show in particular. He’s been a fixture on our airwaves since 2001. That’s when he first joined the staff of Chicago Public Radio as our new political reporter. He often joined us on Eight Forty-Eight. We pay tribute to our former colleague, reporter Carlos Hernandez Gomez.
