Around the US, more than 1.5 million students currently attend charter schools. That number will likely keep growing – nationally and locally. So thousands of teachers, policymakers and charter leaders convened here in Chicago. They met to exchange ideas and gear up for their future. Many of those conversations focused on the role of technology in the classroom and especially e-learning. Dr. Caprice Young has her finger on the pulse of what’s happening in both the charter and e-learning worlds. She chairs the board of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. They’re the organization that hosted this week’s conference – Innovators in Education: Leading the Race to the Top. Dr. Young is also the President and CEO of KC Distance Learning, a company that provides distant learning programs for students, including some from Chicago Public Schools.
