By The ArchivesEvery month, Chicago’s Board of Education meets to make decisions about the future course of the city’s schools. A meeting might sound mundane but these gatherings are packed with significant decisions, not to mention heated exchanges. So today we’re starting a new segment called “Cheat Sheet,” and it’s meant be a quick and dirty peek into Chicago’s often contentious school board meetings and the issues that are brought up there. WBEZ’s education reporter Linda Lutton will be our guide.
This month Linda and Alison discuss how neighborhood change in Bucktown catches up with a school there, and why emotions are running high. And, Chicago is hiring a Pennsylvania social service group to lead anti-violence efforts, which has some Chicago pastors miffed.
