Some five months after Richard M. Daley’s announcement to step down as mayor, it is almost time for Chicago to move on. Tuesday voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for a new mayor and in many cases, a new alderman.

Monday, Eight Forty-Eight wanted to know what’s on voters’ minds as they prepare to vote. Who’s excited and who’s turned off by the election? What’s got people headed out: The issues or the personalities? Who are Chicagoans voting for and why?
