On Monday, more than a dozen Chicago bands will take to a Washington D.C. stage for a pre-inaugural indie-rock style celebration. Presented by Chicago’s micro-venue the Hideout, the list of artists includes Andrew Bird, David “Honeyboy” Williams, Tortoise and Ken Vandermark.

The group plans to pile into a couple of buses and road-trip it to our nation’s capital. Behind the wheel is Hideout co-owner Tim Tuten who says the idea for The Big Shoulders Ball comes out of his own long history of political involvement.
