In 2004, NHL players went on strike. Sports journalists wondered if anybody cared, or even noticed. The Blackhawks were practically invisible even when they were playing.

The team was mediocre at best, and the club had almost no PR or community outreach. Well: Hockey. Is. Back. Yesterday’s gold-medal game was as electrifying a competition as any sports fan could ask for and many of the best moments were provided by players who skate for the Chicago Blackhawks.
