The 1953 film Age of Turmoil is one of three educational films rescued by the Chicago Film Archives. They’ll be screened tonight at the Chicago Cultural Center as part of “The Worst Years of Our Lives” program. Alison Cuddy sat down with Chicago Film Archives programmer Michelle Puetz to discuss the lasting significance of these films. Time Out Chicago’s film editor Hank Sartin also joined them. Puetz started by discussing how Glenview-based Coronet Films had “Hollywood-like” aspirations when filming their educational fare.
