Chicago will see some big numbers from this spring’s G-8/NATO summits: 7,500 officials, 2,000 press affiliates and 80 nations were just a few of the attendance projections. There was another set of numbers Chicagoans were not yet sure about, like the cost of holding the three-day event.
Eight Forty-Eight brought listeners up to date on the planning process—the dual summits have not met in the same city in 35 years. Lori Healey, executive director of the Chicago G-8/NATO Host Committee, University of Chicago economist Allen Sanderson, WBEZ’s Alex Keefe and cultural critic Anne Elizabeth Moore discussed what issues Chicago might face and how best to plan.
