Those living and working in the Loop have certainly seen and heard from Occupy Chicago. For just under a month, demonstrators have been occupying the area in front of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. They are protesting the current state of political and economic affairs, but Eight Forty-Eight gave listeners a chance to let their voices be heard. Listeners called, emailed and tweeted with questions and comments about the movement.

Eight Forty-Eight‘s Alison Cuddy was also joined by Micah Philbrook of Occupy Chicago and University of Chicago professor Bernard Harcourt. They took questions concerning the ability of popular movements to police themselves, whether the city is doing enough to accommodate protestors and the goals of the movement Alderman Robert Fioretti also joined Eight Forty-Eight to discuss how the occupation is affecting the 2nd Ward where protestors have been.

Harcourt has written about Occupy Wall Street for the New York Times. His latest book is The Illusion of Free Markets: Punishment and Myth of Natural Order.
