CPS Launches New Program for Safe Schools

We can all agree that the violence in, around, and on the way to and from some Chicago Public Schools has gotten out of control. Where we can't seem to agree – or at least make any headway – is on how to put an end to it. That's a thorny debate at the heart of conversations that stretch back years. Today Rick Phillips starts a tour of 14 Chicago schools with a violence prevention program he thinks will help. Phillips is the Executive Director of Community Matters, a California-based non-profit. He's also the co-founder of the Safe School Ambassadors program, which he'll be piloting at some local schools this week.
