Herb Kent has many aliases: “The Cool Gent,” “Herbie Baby,” “King of the Dusties,” “Mayor of Bronzeville.” And after nearly 70 years in the business, he’s now the world’s longest serving radio DJ.  But on Friday, he came back to where it all began: WBEZ. Kent learned a few tricks of the trade here as a 16 year old, and he joined host Alison Cuddy to reflect about his life on air - and what’s next!

Herb Kent hosts two weekend shows on V 103. He will be in Millennium Park this Labor Day Monday alongside WBEZ’s Richard Steele to help lead the festivities celebrating Soul Train’s 40th anniversary. There will be a concert and a pre-concert dance party, with many special guests on-hand - including Don Cornelius.
