Apparently the people of Southeast Europe move to a slightly different beat than us Americans. At least, that’s the impression you’d get from Robert Soko’s DJ style. And he should know, his homeland Bosnia is at the heart of what he calls his “Balkan Beats.” Soko brings together native instruments and ramped up music to match the tempo and temperament of the dance club. If you want to feel the mix you can catch him this weekend. He’s performing at the World Music Festival, which is on now through the end of September. Tonight he’ll provide music before and after Radio M’s live broadcast from Martyrs’.
