As part of Chicago Matters: Beyond Burnham, we’re profiling local visionaries with an eye on our region’s future. Today meet Dr. Funmi Olopade. Olopade is a geneticist at the University of Chicago. She’s an expert in assessing who is most likely to get breast cancer and why. Olopade believes the place we call home is a big factor in our risk for the disease – whether we hail from the South Side of Chicago or her hometown of Lagos, Nigeria. Alison Cuddy visited with Dr. Olopade at her office at University of Chicago’s Global Health Initiative where she serves as associate dean.
