Drake & Zerang Bring a Winter Solstice Sunrise

For the past eighteen years Hamid Drake and Michael Zerang have been coming together to honor the winter solstice. Also known as midwinter, the solstice is the shortest day of the year. So Drake and Zerang start their concerts before the sun rises, and perform three consecutive mornings in a row. The event is also a showcase for percussive instruments from around the world, including Moroccan drums, Middle Eastern daradukes and African djembes. Hamid Drake and Michael Zerang give us a small preview of their annual solstice series live in studio.
