When south side native E. Faye Butler decided she wanted to be an actress, she was thinking of performing roles created by Shakespeare, Moliére and Ibsen. She didn’t think she’d be singing on stage. Now, she’s receiving accolades for doing just that. She was recently honored with a Jeff Award, for best Actress in a Principal Role, Musical. Monday she’ll be performing in a one-woman show at Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. Richard Steele recently talked with Butler who says a certain necessity took her to musical theater’s doorstep.
