A new ordinance proposes that the owners of vacant properties near schools be required to place security guards outside of buildings while school is in session. The Chicago Reporter’s Angela Caputo joins Eight Forty-Eight to explain what effect vacant buildings can have on the hardest hit communities and the motivation behind the move. Then, Richard Steele heads to Valois in Hyde Park to gauge how the black community is feeling about President Obama and a potential second term. And world-renowned guitarist Goran Ivanovic joins the show to zing the strings and talk about the Chicago Guitar Festival, which he helped create.
