In her new documentary Woke Up Black, Chicago filmmaker Mary Morten follows the lives of five young African Americans over the course of two years. Eight Forty-Eight sat down with Morten and one of the young men profiled in her documentary to talk about the highs and lows of growing up in the area as an African American.
