Most people believe that humor is subjective, but consumer psychologist Peter McGraw thinks he’s found the scientific formula for funny. Journalist Joel Warner is less certain. McGraw and Warner tell Eight Forty-Eight about their journeys together across the globe in search of the “humor code.”

WBEZ history blogger John Schmidt will stop by and tell us about Len Small, Illinois’s first governor to be tried for corruption. Schmidt will also give a quiz on famous Chicago trials, so be prepared to call in at 312.923.9239.

The South American sounds of Chicago’s Mar Caribe will be with us throughout the hour as they perform live in the Jim and Kay Mabie Performance Studio.
