On this edition of Music Thursday, we get a head start on celebrating Mother’s Day. Tony Sarabia and WBEZ’s Richard Steele line up some of their favorite tunes, sung by Moms, to Moms and for Moms. We’re joined by Kori Gardner from the band Mates of State, a rockin’ mom who wrote the blog Band on the Diaper Run while she toured the country with her husband/bandmate and their children. Also, Jessica Hopper, grrl power enthusiast, music writer for the Chicago Reader and author of The Girl’s Guide to Rocking, explains how she juggles being a rock critic and parent.

At the top of the hour, we were joined by Tracy Baim of Windy City Times as we invited listeners to weigh in with their thoughts on President Obama’s historic announcement yesterday regarding gay marriage.  Baim is also the author of the 2010 book, Obama and the Gays: A Political Marriage
