Nagasi Oshima has been heralded as Japan’s greatest living filmmaker. He’s been making films for nearly five decades. The Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago’s Loop is currently presenting a two month-long, 20-film, retrospective series titled In the Realm of Oshima. Eight Forty-Eight’s film critic Jonathan Miller has more on the filmmaker.

In the Realm of Oshima runs through March 2 at the Gene Siskel Film Center. You can catch Dear Summer Sister tonight, and In the Realm of the Senses tomorrow afternoon.
