Thousands of Illinois state employees await news on whether or not they still have jobs. Earlier in the week, Gov. Pat Quinn signaled that layoffs were on the way due to the state’s record budget deficit. The governor was expected to release more details about state closures and layoffs Thursday. The story may be familiar to Illinoisans – a legislative tussle between the hunt to find more revenue and potential service cutbacks.
