The Roman Catholic Church has thus far refused to include women in the priesthood. The Vatican issued a revised doctrine earlier this summer which labels women’s ordination a grave crime, and numerous Catholics have been excommunicated for participating in the ordination of woman. So this weekend Catholic women will participate in what organizers hope is a widespread boycott of the Sunday mass. Protestors want women ordained as priests and officially recognized by the Catholic Church. Laura Singer is President of the National Board of Directors of the Women’s Ordination Conference, based in Washington D.C. ans she talks more about Sunday’s action.
