Group Sues City Over Parking Privatization Deal

Some citizens’ anger is still percolating over the City of Chicago having privatized the parking meter system. The Independent Voters of Illinois–Independent Precinct Organization yesterday sued the city comptroller, the Illinois Secretary of State, and Illinois comptroller. The group argues, among other things, that the city lacks the authority to lease public streets. The City’s lawyers say the suit is “wholly without merit.” The group’s attorney, Clinton Krislov, lays out the details of the lawsuit.
