In 2007, as part of a year-long series on immigration, WBEZ’s Gabriel Spitzer offered a snapshot of the changing landscape of Devon Avenue. He explored how different ethnic groups made their mark on the community. Years later, many of those influences remain.

Since Gabrel’s 2007 report, a large number of Iraqi refugees moved to Chicago and opened up their own stores along and around Devon Avenue.

Some Jewish businesses have closed or relocated, like Rosenblum’s, which a few weeks ago moved north to Skokie.
