Unemployment or foreclosure can mean a new beginning or chance at re-invention for some. But it can lead others to question their identity and worth, falling into a state of limbo. We've invited one of our favorite deep thinkers in to discuss what limbo is – and what value it might have. Stephen Asma is a philosophy professor at Columbia College, Chicago. His most recent book, On Monsters: An Unnatural History of Our Worst Fears is out now.
