A new study from the University of Chicago seeking to understand the impact of unemployment on black families found that the effects of unemployment are a big factor in pushing many black families out of their middle class status. Professor Ariel Kalil, co-author of “Parental Job Loss and Children’s Educational Attainment in Black and White Middle-Class Families”, is a developmental psychologist and a Professor in the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago.
