Hundreds of people from the Chicago area gathered at the Illinois State Capitol Tuesday morning. The event was part of an annual day of lobbying in Springfield on behalf of immigrants. This year’s visit had some extra energy. For one, Gov. Pat Quinn’s proposed state budget for the next fiscal year cuts immigrant and refugee services. For another, a west-suburban lawmaker is pushing an immigration-enforcement bill modeled after a tough new Arizona law.
