Now that the dust is starting to settle around the social and political effects of healthcare many groups are vying to get their agenda on the top of lawmakers “to do” lists. A little over a week ago, proponents for immigration reform marched in Washington. The following Monday, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele appeared on Fox News. Today, Steele is expected to sit down with immigration proponents, including representatives from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. So where will the immigration debate fall in this political landscape? And what might it mean for the Republican Party?
