This morning the Illinois House gathered to debate whether Rod Blagojevich will become the first Illinois governor to face impeachment.

Yesterday, a 21-member special House panel voted unanimously to recommend impeachment. Final appearances before the committee included a former senior advisor to the Governor, who described Blagojevich as arrogant, foul-mouthed, and prone to tactics both abusive and unconstitutional. And then former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris testified that there was no pay to play involved in his appointment as Illinois’ junior senator. Illinois Public Radio’s Statehouse Bureau Chief Sean Crawford will be following the events today.
