If you’ve been following our series Inside and Out, you remember Angelica. She’s a 19-year-old young woman who’s been in and out of the juvenile justice system for years—ever since she got in a fight with a girl and stole her purse. When we met her this winter—Angelica had been out for a few months and life was going rough. She got kicked out of her mom’s house which violated her parole. Her parole officer put a warrant out for her arrest.
Today, WBEZ’s Adriene Hill brings us up to date with Angelica, and takes a look at how the system that’s set up to help young people after prison can sometimes make things worse.
