This weekend, Washington Park on Chicago’s South Side once again plays host to the African Festival of the Arts. Among the headliners is piano legend Ahmad Jamal. It was here in Chicago that Jamal led a trio at the Pershing Hotel. The album they recorded there stayed in the top 10 for an unbelievable 108 weeks. Ahmad Jamal talks with Richard Steele about his time in the city, and his music.
