Former WGN anchor Allison Payne was a fixture on Chicago TV sets for more than 20 years. The Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter officially left the station early in the summer. Though, she’d already been absent for awhile—sidelined by health problems. Payne had many memorable moments on the airwaves, including in 2010 when she revealed her battles with addiction. She recently opened up about this, and her broadcasting career, to Eight Forty-Eight’s Alison Cuddy. Before making her way to Chicago, Payne was working as an anchor in Saginaw, Michigan. And she said that when WGN came knocking with a job offer she wasn’t so sure she wanted to accept.
