World tours are usually the province of pop stars or presidents. Performance artists? Not so much. But Laurie Anderson isn’t your average experimental artist. The Glen Ellyn, Ill. native studied art history and sculpture. She began performing in the late ’60s and by the ’70s was an established member of the avant-garde. But she also left her mark on the mainstream. Anderson had a pop hit with her song “O Superman” in 1981, was the artist in residence for NASA and voiced a character in “The Rugrats Movie.” Her latest performance piece is “Delusion.” Anderson will perform it Tuesday night at 7:30 at the Harris Theater.
