It’s probably an understatement to call Lily Tomlin a multi-faceted performer. The actress and comedian’s awards include Tonys, Emmys – even a Grammy! For more than four decades now she’s created a whole host of loveable despite themselves characters. There’s the cranky telephone operator Ernestine of Laugh-In, the revenge-driven Violet Newstead of 9 to 5. Lately, you’ve seen her on TV’s Damages – where she plays the supportive wife of a ponzi schemer. This weekend, the Detroit-born star returns to her Midwestern roots with a performance in Chicago. She’ll be on stage Saturday night for The Center on Halsted’s Human First Gala. She tells us more about her career, and her Saturday night performance.
