Eight Forty-Eight shared listener letters to hear where listeners think the show is getting it right and where it missed the mark.

Last week host Alison Cuddy spoke with Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
Lisa Biggs wrote:

I wish Alison had asked McCarthy to talk about how police are trained to defuse situations, instead of merely focusing on their shooting skills. How many of the recent shootings were committed by some of the 600 [plus] officers moved from desk duty out onto the streets?

Recent reports said that Emanuel moved officers from both administrative tasks and specialized duties. 

Eight Forty-Eight also got some mail about the new Marilyn Monroe statue next to the Tribune Tower.
Leo was not exactly a fan of the work; he called it, “Generic, boring. Can we send this back to Hollywood already?”

Finally, some soccer – or rather - football fans got their fill last week when Eight Forty-Eight intern and native-UK son Mike Wilson reported on the July 23 game between the Manchester United and the Chicago Fire.

Joel heard the story and said:
Really enjoyed hearing this on my radio today, WBEZ continues to give soccer a fair shake and it was entertaining to hear The Brit’s take on it.  Saturday’s event showed that Chicago enjoys the sport. Now if only those thousands that filled Soldier Field could get up off their couch more often to support their local team.
