Local doctor Robert Satcher’s most recent house call was pretty unusual. His patients were orbiting the earth aboard the International Space Station. Satcher is an orthopedic surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. In November, he hurtled into space aboard the Shuttle Atlantis. He looked after more than just the health of his fellow astronauts. He also did a little reconstructive surgery on the station during two space walks. WBEZ’s Gabriel Spitzer recently spoke with Dr. Satcher, who says a NASA simulation helped him get acquainted with his home in space.
