Last night, HBO premiered the first of a four-part documentary series that examines Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Project aims to “change the way America thinks” about the disease through personal interviews with patients and their families as well as a spotlight on some of the latest research. In the Chicago area, the Memory Bridge Initiative pairs middle-school and high-school students with elderly buddies in nursing homes who are suffering with dementia. High school student Michael Marrero and the initiative’s director Susan Bussey discuss the program.
