It’s the dawn of a new day for public radio listeners. Citizens of Chicago, and WBEZ listeners, we’re happy to introduce to you public radio’s first daily, national, comedy talk show.

We knew that to take on this enormous task and bold venture, we’d have to do something that would blow peoples’ minds. In short, we had to “go big.”  National spotlight “big.”

We found our opportunity in the major networks’ lack of commitment to their late night hosts. After nearly a year of agents, lawyers, logistics and a LOT of coffee, our new show has arrived.

WBEZ has teamed up with one of the premiere names in comedy. A man who singlehandedly changed late night television. A man who has made generations of viewers split their sides is adding radio to his Worldwide Media Empire. A man known for intelligent comedy will take over the mic today.

A Hoosier is returning to his roots, and joining our airwaves when he launches his new show. Be sure to tune starting at 9 a.m. today, as we debut a whole new Midday Show.

To come clean: Dave Van Dam is the man behind the voice of “Evil Dave” Letterman, as he is known. He’s been heard mimicking David Letterman on a number of local radio shows, but is perhaps best known for his appearances as “Evil Dave” on the Howard Stern Radio Show. Van Dam has also appeared as the voice of “Evil Dave” on Family Guy, and will reprise the role on April 11 on American Dad of Fox TV.
