Joel Styzens is following his musical dreams. But those dreams almost turned into a nightmare, when he was diagnosed with tinnitus-a ringing in the ears-and hyperacusis, a severe sensitivity to normal sounds. In the last few years Styzens has changed his musical trajectory, and is bringing hope and help to fellow musicians, and others, who suffer from these conditions. Styzens recently spoke about his experiences with Alison Cuddy. He says that he discovered the beginnings of a problem when he was being fitted for, of all things, earplugs.
