New Biopic Portrays Life of Animal and Autism Advocate Temple Grandin
Many scientists develop strong attachments to their research animals. But Temple Grandin thinks she and her animal subjects share something more – a language. Grandin has autism. Her mind works through translating images, and not words, into concepts and generalities. She thinks the animal mind works in a similar manner. Grandin has dedicated her life work to improving the welfare and treatment of livestock. That work, along with her commitment to spreading awareness about autism, has inspired a new HBO biopic, with Claire Danes in the role of Grandin. Grandin explains what it was like seeing Danes play her on the small screen.
Temple Grandin premieres on HBO this weekend.
