While you were ringing in the New Year, a new campaign finance law took effect in Illinois. Individuals and organizations are now limited in how much they’re able to donate in a single election. The law also puts restrictions on political action committees, or PACs. PACs have had an important impact on previous mayoral races.

To find out how the new restrictions are affecting PACs in this year’s municipal election, Eight Forty-Eight was joined by Cindi Canary. She’s the director of the non-partisan public interest group, Illinois Campaign for Political Reform.
